40 Days in the Word. All In. Contribution Statements.

Dear CCC Family,

40 days of doing anything will produce change. It doesn’t matter if it’s eating donuts or going to the gym. After 40 days of consistent attention in any area of your life, you will see a change. The same is true for reading the Bible. Imagine the changes we might see in our lives if we read the Bible each day. During the 40 Days in the Word (40 DITW) campaign, we will explore Jesus’ invitation to love him, learn from him and to live for him by loving, learning and living his word. We will do this through Sunday messages, small group/Adult Bible Fellowship meetings, scripture memory, and the 40 DITW workbook. The official start of the campaign will be on Sunday, February 2. There will be three weeks of messages that prepare us for the series.

This campaign supports and is foundational to our 2020 theme, All In. Being All In for Jesus starts with being all in for his Word, the Bible. That is the place where we learn what he wants us to feel, think, and do. This is more than just a series on forming Biblical habits, it is about the power of God’s Word to change our lives. A power that is available to all of us.

See you Sunday!

Jeff

PS The 40 Days in the Word Campaign was developed by Rick Warren and Saddleback Church. We will be using and adapting the material they provide.

40 Days in the Word Campaign and Groups
February 2 will be the official start of the 40 Days in the Word Campaign. The goal is to reignite and strengthen our passion for God’ Word. We will learn principles and skills so we are not just “hearers” of the Word, but also “doers” of the Word! After that Sunday February 2 the Adult Bible Fellowships and small groups will be using material that supports and further develops that goal. During the three weeks leading up to the start you will have the opportunity to sign up to be part of one of those ABFs or small groups and reserve a 40 DITW Workbook.

Contribution Statements.
Charitable contribution statements will be available beginning January 19 and mailed to those who do not pick them up. If you do not receive one and want one, contact the church office.

Snow and Winter Weather
Our congregation is spread out throughout the NY metro area, from Long Island to New Jersey and Westchester to Staten Island. Thus, severe winter weather hits us hard especially since the people who lead and set up travel a distance. If the National Weather Service issues winter storm warnings that include statements that travel will be hazardous, please call the church office or check the church website to make sure we are still holding services.

Annual Congregational Meeting
Our annual congregational meeting is on Sunday, February 2, at 12:45 pm. We will affirm elders and trustees, review last year, and discuss future plans.

Adult Bible Fellowships Resume
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide Bible instruction, discussion, friendship, and prayer.

Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life. Does your life feel like it’s out of control? Perhaps you feel you have to say yes to everyone’s requests, especially if you are a Christian. Maybe you find yourself readily taking responsibility for others’ feelings and problems. Or perhaps you focus so much on being loving and unselfish that you’ve forgotten your own limits and limitations. Or maybe it’s all of the above. This study will help you learn when to say yes and know how to say no in order to take control of your life and set healthy, biblical boundaries with your spouse, children, friends, parents, co-workers, and even yourself. Led by Russell Kraft.

12:30 pm
Core Christianity: Finding Yourself In God’s Story. If you are a Christian, you likely pray, go to church, and read your Bible on a regular basis. Still, with all the busyness of life, you may not be exactly sure how your faith fits into everything you are doing each day. This study delves into the core truths of the Christian faith to equip you to more fully experience the joy God has for you in Jesus Christ and encourage you to have the confidence to share your faith with others. Led by Jon Dyke.
