Meeting Report. Property Update.

Dear CCC Family, Once again we had a good annual congregational meeting last Sunday. You can read about it below. I met with one of the partners that owns the property we would like to buy or exchange ours for. He was very nice and knowledgeable, but non-committal. He said he would talk to the other partners and get back to me. One way or another we are finally getting to a conclusion in our pursuit of that property. Pray…

Congregational Meeting. No Classes. Prayer.

Dear CCC Family, Our annual congregational meeting will be this Sunday, at 12:45 pm. You can read about it below. You don’t have to be member to attend, but only members can vote. I am looking forward to the 40 Days of Prayer campaign. I want to encourage you to make a special effort to participate in it by attending Sundays, getting and using the accompanying book, and joining a group or class. See you Sunday Jeff PS There will…

Last. Proposed. New.

Dear CCC Family, This week will be the last session of the Join the Team! Membership Class. The attendance has been strong and discussion good. Lord willing, I will get the sessions online soon. Copies of the proposed statement of faith and amended bylaws are available on Sundays. Please read them over as we will be voting on them at our Annual Congregational Meeting on February 10. Be sure to check out the new Adult Bible Fellowships that start on…

Oops! Join the Team! Resumes.

Dear CCC Family, Oops! Obviously, the weather predictions for last Sunday were not right. Unfortunately, we had to make a decision early because I was going out of town last weekend. I left for the airport at 3:30 AM on Saturday morning. We knew it might not be as bad as forecast, but, based on the forecast, we thought it would likely be bad enough that some key volunteers might not feel safe attending. We simply do not have enough…

Service Canceled on Sunday, January 20

Dear CCC Family, The worship service and all activities are canceled for this Sunday, January 20. The wintery mix of snow, rain, sleet, and freezing rain that is predicted will make travel unsafe. Meeting at a school requires a lot of set up. Most of the people who do that travel the farthest whether by foot or by car. For their safety and that of everyone who attends Community Christian Church, we are canceling. Although it is possible the forecast will…

Strong Start! Statement of Faith. Pray!

Dear CCC Family, If you were there last Sunday, you heard David Matasima is now a student at Lincoln Christian University. He registered and moved into his dorm room last Saturday and began classes last Monday.  David thanks you for your support and asked that you continue praying for him as he adjusts to America and college. We had a great start to the Join the Team! Membership Class. Attendance was strong at both the 9:30 am and 12:30…

What Matters. Join the Team! Starts.

Dear CCC Family, At the time this e-newsletter is sent, David Matasima and I should be on our way to Lincoln, Illinois, to enroll him at Lincoln Christian University. Please keep our travels in your prayers and most of all David’s adjustment to the United States and college.  After getting him settled, I will return Saturday night and be with you on Sunday. This Sunday will be the first of the new year and an important day. The “What Matters” series which will…

Good Ending. Great Beginning.

Dear CCC Family, Last Sunday was good one! It was great to have David Matasima with us and have Salomon and Caroline share in the service. It was also our best Candles and Carols service ever. Tariq’s rendition of “Joy to the World” to close the service was exceptional. Laurie and I will be away this coming Sunday visiting family in the Midwest. Alex Lozada will be our guest speaker. He is on the staff of Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland,…

Candles and Carols. Special Testimony. Revitalization.

Dear CCC Family, Last Sunday’s Christmas Lunch was great! More than ever before people were talking about how good the food was. Thanks to Jackie Coss for coordinating it, everyone who helped set up and clean up, and to those that brought the great food. Well done. This Sunday will be different, but still start at 11:00 am. It will be a candles and carols service. We will have the Lord’s Supper as usual and there…

Christmas Potluck Lunch. Visa News (Bad then Great).

Dear CCC Family, This Sunday will be one of the year’s best. After worship, we fellowship together during our Annual Christmas Lunch. It has been a tradition for 28 years! Be sure to attend and bring some people with you. Last night during our small group at Miguel’s and Valerie’s we received some bad news. Salomon and Caroline told us that their son, David, could not get an visa interview until January 23. That is a problem because school starts for…
