Congregational Meeting. Eastern Christian Conference.

Dear CCC Family, It has been a busy few months. A lot has been happening. This Sunday, after the service and refreshments, we will have a congregational meeting to discuss everything that is going on. There will not be anything to vote on. The meeting is for information and discussion. I hope you will be there! See you Sunday. Jeff Congregational Meeting There will be a congregational meeting this Sunday, August 19, at 12:15 pm. Back This Sunday. Congregational Meeting.

Dear CCC Family, We enjoyed seeing our grandchildren as well as our daughter and son-in-law in Memphis while on vacation. Their “farm” has expanded and most of the food we ate in their home was grown/raised by them. We also were able to see our son, Luke, and brother, Ray, and his family as we traveled. It was a good trip. Still, we look forward to getting home on Saturday and seeing you Sunday. Jeff Retreat Cancelled It has been…

Guest Speaker. Retreat News. Not on Vacation.

Dear CCC Family, By the time you get this Laurie and I will have left for a week of vacation.  Our son, Luke, just happens to be in Indianapolis. We will spend tonight there and have breakfast with him Saturday morning. Then it is on to Memphis to see our grandchildren. We will be back on Sunday, August 12. Thank you to Greg Stokes for speaking this coming Sunday and everyone who is doing extra in my absence.  Just because I am away…

We are blessed! I was encouraged!

Dear CCC Family, I spent this morning at our building with the construction teams. Rafael who is serving as our general supervisor/contractor, the electrical contractor, the plumbing contractor, and the construction contractor. Rafael’s leadership is saving us not thousands of dollars, not tens of thousands of dollars, but hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Be sure to thank him whenever you see him! All the contractors I met with are going out of their way to accommodate us and charge as little as possible. To do that…

Success! I’ve been grumpy, but you have been . . .

Dear CCC Family, Success! The plans for the renovation of 210 East 117th Street have been filed and approved. With detailed plans in place, we are getting permits, estimates, and, Lord willing, work will start soon. Please continue to pray for the renovation. Thank you to all the communion servers for staying for the meeting last Sunday and to Bob Harvey for leading it.  This week the greeters are meeting at 9:30 am before the service. I have to admit…

One Week Makes a Difference! Guest Speaker!

Dear CCC Family, One week makes a difference! We were better organized and it was much cooler. It will get better each week. I am looking forward to September when have a “Grand Opening at Our New Location Sunday.” We might not call it that but we will have a special emphasis to let the neighborhood know we are here. The summer is a time to get organized and equipped for a great fall. I finally got all of our…

Success! Cooler!

Dear CCC Family, Success! Our first Sunday at Public School 96 was a success. Thank you to those that worked hard to make it a success, especially the worship team. It was a hot day, one degree below a record. Given the fact that it will have been one of the hottest days of the summer, it wasn’t too bad. It will be 15 degrees cooler this Sunday. Plus, we will have more fans. There is no success without some…

$324,764!!! New Location! New Chapter!

Dear CCC Family, You did it! You really did it! You exceeded our Daring Faith Next Chapter Giving goal. You gave a cash offering of $79,244 and made three year commitments of $245,520 for a total of $324,764. The offering and commitments were far beyond our $250,000 goal. Well done! This Sunday will be our first Sunday at Public School 96 at 216 E. 120th Street. We will have one service at 10:30 am. Let’s make our first Sunday a great…

The end. The beginning. New location.

Dear CCC Family, We will write the end of one chapter of the Community Christian Church story this Sunday. It will be our last Sunday meeting at La Hermosa Christian Church. It has been a good five years. We have grown by 33% while we have been there, baptizing and adding members. It has been a convenient place to meet and we have gotten comfortable there, maybe too comfortable. This Sunday will also be the beginning of new chapter. Our…

The Latest on a New Location. Candidate Follow Up. Packing and Moving.

Dear CCC Family, Daring to Wait on God is this Sunday’s message. It couldn’t come at a better time. It is amazing that the decision to do the Daring Faith Series was made before we knew we would need such daring faith at this time. We didn’t know we would need to find a new place to meet. God knew and he planned a faith building series for us at this time. In addition, June 24, was chosen for the…
