Dear CCC Family,
We are back and looking forward to being with you this coming Sunday. We had a great time at the retreat in the Catskill Mountains. Those that went are looking forward to going back next year. The date is not set, but it is looking like it will be that last full weekend in August again.
I appreciate everyone that did extra work while I was away. I want to especially thank David Romulo for being in charge overall, Bob and Karen Harvey for getting the bagels, and David Chicaguala and William Gomez for speaking. It takes a team.
Let’d continue to pray for Houston and all the areas in Texas and Louisiana impacted by Harvey. There are many organizations you can contribution to help. IDES (International Disaster Emergency Services) is one connect to our church. You can donate directly by going to their website (http://www.ides.org). You can also give on Sunday or through CCC’s online giving and designating it for IDES. IDES provides relief through local churches.
Though September 10 will not be an official Open House Sunday, it would be a good day to invite someone to attend with you The message, “A Place to Belong,” will be good for both new people and those that have been around for a long time. It will be the Sunday following the Fun and Health Fest so I expect we will have guests from that. I hope you will be there for that as well. We can always use more volunteers.
On Sunday, September 17 I will start a series of message in entiled Crystal Clear Christianity which will take us through the first part of the Book of Romans. It has been a while since I have preached through a book of the Bible and it is important that I do that periodically. It ensures that there is balance in the teaching and that I am not avoiding some hard topics. The Book of Romans contains the clearest and most complete presentation of the Christian faith found in the Bible. That is why the series is called Crystal Clear Christianity. It will challenge us all.
See you Sunday!
PS This Sunday will be good one too! I will share a little about our trip to Ukraine. There is something very interesting about two cities that we visited, Odessa and Lviv. They have a similarity and a difference that is relevant to our church.
Guest Worship Team
We will have guests leading worship this coming Sunday, September 3. It is the group “Guys on a Bus.” They are on tour in New York and will be with on Sunday. Be sure to thank our usual worship team as they get a break this Sunday.
