Candles and Carols Service. Thank you. Travel Plans.

Dear CCC Family,

Laurie and I will be away the next two Sundays. We look forward to being back on January 5 to start a new decade together. Enjoy the Candles and Carols service this Sunday and John’s message on December 29 when he introduces our theme for 2020.

See you next year!

Jeff

Candles and Carols Service This Sunday – December 22
The service on Sunday December 22 will be different. We will start by taking the Lord’s Supper and then have our Candles and Carols service in which we read the Christmas story interspersed with Christmas carols and the lighting of candles. It is a special service that the family can enjoy together so there will not be classes for children or childcare that Sunday. It is also a good Sunday to invite a guest to attend. Spanish translation will not be available.

Angel Tree Thank You
Thank you to Elba Rodriguez for leading our Angel Tree Project and to everyone who bought presents and helped with the party yesterday

Christmas Lunch Thank You
Last Sunday’s Christmas Lunch was great. Thanks to Jackie Coss for coordinating it, everyone who helped set up and clean up, and those that brought food.

The Butlers’ Travel Plans
Jeff and Laurie will be away the next two Sundays to celebrate Christmas with family and attend the marriage of Luke, their youngest child, in Las Vegas. They will be back in the new year and Jeff will be speaking on January 5.

2019 Christmas Offering
Christmas is a time to celebrate Jesus. In the midst of giving gifts to friends, family, and coworkers we want to be sure to give one to Jesus as well. Though the post office does not deliver to heaven, Jesus says that we can give to Him by giving to “the least of these.” The Christmas Offering is a year-end giving initiative that focuses on doing just that. This year the Christmas Offering will be used for disaster relief. Our news media has not highlighted it, but there have been devastating earthquakes on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. Different organizations are helping with the relief including Harvest for Christ Foundation led by David Romulo. This year’s Christmas offer will be distributed by Harvest for Christ to people missed by other relief efforts and to rebuild church buildings damaged by the earthquakes. Mark your gifts for Christmas Offering 2019.

Year End Giving
A reminder that for financial gifts to be tax deductible in 2019, they must be given by December 31, 2019. Your gift can be given in the regular offering, in person at the church office, digitally, or mailed & postmarked on or before December 31, 2019. The church will provide giving statements in January

Snow and Winter Weather
Our congregation is spread out throughout the NY metro area, from Long Island to New Jersey and Westchester to Staten Island. Thus, severe winter weather hits us hard especially since the people who lead and set up travel a distance. If the National Weather Service issues winter storm warnings that include statements that travel will be hazardous, please call the church office or check the church website to make sure we are still holding services.

Adult Bible Fellowships
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide Bible instruction, discussion, friendship, and prayer. The ABFs will be taking a break until January.
