Dear CCC Family,
Christmas is coming. Let’s not forget Thanksgiving, but we need to plan ahead for Christmas. You can read about Operation Christmas Child Below. You have already “packed” 26 boxes online! Sunday, November 22, is the last day to bring a shoebox to the church building. It really is the deadline because I have to take them to the drop off center no later than November 23.
We are happy to help children around the world. We also want to help families in the neighborhood of our church building. We will do that in a new way this year, Holiday Market. Read about it below. It will be an exciting new way to love our community.
This week’s message in the Emotions series will be on depression. Join us to learn how to Deal with Depression.
See you Sunday, online or in person.
2020 has been tough, but we want to finish this year off strong by tangibly meeting the needs of those in our community. We want to make Christmas a reality for struggling families with children this year, so that is why we are launching a brand new initiative called Holiday Market starting Saturday, December 5th, from 2-6, and continuing the following Saturdays up until Christmas or while supplies last.
Just like the wonderful holiday markets that sprout up throughout NYC after Thanksgiving, we want to provide a great, safe, and realistic shopping experience for those in East Harlem where parents can come and shop for Christmas gifts for their children and pay what they can, even if that is zero!
In order to make this year’s Holiday Market a reality, we all need to do our part by giving generously to this initiative, creating space in our calendars to serve (more details coming soon), and praying for those families who will be blessed this Christmas because we stood in the gap for them. If you would like to give to the Holiday Market, select Holiday Market in the Funds drop down menu when you give online. You can also text any dollar amount followed by the word Holiday to 84321 or write Holiday Market on your giving envelope or check.
Operation Christmas Children 2020
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. The mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
Normally CCC encourages people to pack a shoebox on their own and bring it on a Sunday for us to then take all the shoeboxes to a collection center. You can choose to do that again this year. Instructions on how to pack a physical shoebox can be found by clicking here. Although you can pack a shoebox as in the past, this year we are also encouraging you to consider packing a shoebox online. You can find out more about doing it online by clicking here. Start at the “CCCNYC Online Shoebox Page” so we can see how many online shoeboxes we pack in addition to the physical ones. If you don’t start there, it won’t go toward our goal. If you pack a physical shoebox it MUST be brought to the church building no later than Sunday, November 22. That is the absolute last day. No extra week as in the past. If you pack your shoebox online you will have through November 30 to do it as part of our church goal. Let’s beat COVID-19 and make this our best year ever!

Invite someone to watch our Sunday gathering with you. It is a lot easier than inviting them to join you in person on a Sunday. They don’t have to leave home and they can wear their pajamas. Go here on Facebook. Then, share the post on your timeline or send it to a friend. You can also send the link, cccnyc.online.church.
