New Decade. New Opportunities. New Theme.

New Decade. New Opportunities. New Theme.

Dear CCC Family,

Not just the year, but the decade is almost over. I look forward to the new year and decade. 2020 will be a big year for CCC. We will finish the renovations on our building early in the year and have the opportunity to use it for God’s mission to reconcile people to himself. One crucial decision will be whether to continue to gather at PS 96 or meet in our renovated building. The building is small so we would have two services from the start. Lots of possibilities, opportunities, and decisions for us. Please pray that God will guides us to make the best decisions.

Because the new year and decade are so important we will have a special theme for the year. John will introduce that theme in his message this Sunday, December 29.

I am excited about 2020 and look for seeing you next year and starting our next chapter together.

The Butlers’ Travel Plans
Jeff and Laurie will be away this Sunday to attend the marriage of Luke, their youngest child, in Las Vegas. They will be back in the new year and Jeff will be speaking on January 5.

Coming in 2020.
In late January we will focus on God’s word through the 40 Days in the Word Campaign. The goal is to reignite and strengthen our passion for God’ Word. We will learn principles and skills so we are not just “hearers” of the Word, but also “doers” of the Word! Watch for more details.

2019 Christmas Offering
Christmas is a time to celebrate Jesus. In the midst of giving gifts to friends, family, and coworkers we want to be sure to give one to Jesus as well. Though the post office does not deliver to heaven, Jesus says that we can give to Him by giving to “the least of these.” The Christmas Offering is a year-end giving initiative that focuses on doing just that. This year the Christmas Offering will be used for disaster relief. Our news media has not highlighted it, but there have been devastating earthquakes on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. Different organizations are helping with the relief including Harvest for Christ Foundation led by David Romulo. This year’s Christmas offer will be distributed by Harvest for Christ to people missed by other relief efforts and to rebuild church buildings damaged by the earthquakes. Mark your gifts for Christmas Offering 2019.

Year End Giving
A reminder that for financial gifts to be tax deductible in 2019, they must be given by December 31, 2019. Your gift can be given in the regular offering, in person at the church office, digitally, or mailed & postmarked on or before December 31, 2019. To give online click here.

Contribution Statements.
Charitable contribution statements will be available beginning January 19 and mailed to those who do not pick them up. If you do not receive one and want one, contact the church office.

Snow and Winter Weather
Our congregation is spread out throughout the NY metro area, from Long Island to New Jersey and Westchester to Staten Island. Thus, severe winter weather hits us hard especially since the people who lead and set up travel a distance. If the National Weather Service issues winter storm warnings that include statements that travel will be hazardous, please call the church office or check the church website to make sure we are still holding services.

Adult Bible Fellowships
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide Bible instruction, discussion, friendship, and prayer. The ABFs will be taking a break until January.
