Dear CCC Family,
There is a lot going on this coming Sunday!
Please remember to set your clock back one hour when you go to bed because of the time change for Daylight Saving Time. Then make use of the extra hour of sleep by joining us for a free pancake breakfast starting at 10:00 am. When you make your travel plans, remember that the NYC Marathon is this coming Sunday as well. You can check out the route by clicking here. Click here to see street closures. It looks like the Harlem River Drive and Triboro/RFK Bridge are not affected by the Marathon, but check your route to be sure.
Laurie and I will be in Memphis Tuesday evening through next Sunday, November 10, visiting our grandchildren and their parents. John will be preaching that day.
See you Sunday!
PS The Pancake Breakfast and extra hour of sleep makes this a great Sunday to invite a guest.
Pancake Breakfast This Sunday
We are having a Pancake Breakfast this Sunday, November 3, at 10:00 am. It is a free event, so invite your friends, family, and coworkers to join you for food and some fun prizes. They don’t have to stay for the service, although it would be nice and the message will be good for guests.
Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Due November 17
Be sure to bring your packed Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes on Sunday, November 17, so we can transport then to the drop off location for you. We will have shoeboxes for you starting this Sunday. Last year we gave 75 shoeboxes. Let’s beat that this year!
Angel Tree Project
We are participating in Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree Project that provides Christmas gifts to children with a parent in prison. If you would like to help, circle the “A” on your completed Communication Card on Sunday, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or speak with Elba Rodriguez. The presents will be given to the children at a Christmas Party for them on the afternoon of Saturday, December 14, at our building at 210 East 117th Street.
One Day Membership Class
All four sessions of the Join the Team! Membership Class will be presented on one day on Saturday, November 16, starting at 9:30 am and ending at 12:30 pm. Please circle the “J” on your completed Communication Card to let us know you will be attending. It will be held at our building at 210 East 117th Street.
Adult Bible Fellowships
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide Bible instruction, discussion, friendship, and prayer.
Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life. Does your life feel like it’s out of control? Perhaps you feel you have to say yes to everyone’s requests, especially if you are a Christian. Maybe you find yourself readily taking responsibility for others’ feelings and problems. Or perhaps you focus so much on being loving and unselfish that you’ve forgotten your own limits and limitations. Or maybe it’s all of the above. This study will help you learn when to say yes and know how to say no in order to take control of your life and set healthy, biblical boundaries with your spouse, children, friends, parents, co-workers, and even yourself. Led by Russell Kraft.
Life Lessons from the Book of Esther … studies on the providence of God, His perfect way, His perfect timing ‘for such a time as this.’ Led by Norma Lozada. (Not meeting November 3.)
Core Christianity: Finding Yourself In God’s Story. If you are a Christian, you likely pray, go to church, and read your Bible on a regular basis. Still, with all the busyness of life, you may not be exactly sure how your faith fits into everything you are doing each day. This study delves into the core truths of the Christian faith to equip you to more fully experience the joy God has for you in Jesus Christ and encourage you to have the confidence to share your faith with others. Led by Jon Dyke.
