1 Peter – Living Godly lives in this world. (1 Peter 2:9-12)

Receiving mercy from God and becoming his own possession is a great honor. We are now a chosen people, a royal priesthood, and holy nation. With that great honor comes great responsibility. We are to live good lives and declare God’s praises so more people glorify God by received God’s mercy and become his own possession as well.

1 Peter – Make Jesus your cornerstone. (1 Peter 2:4-10 – Part 1)

Physical cornerstones were the first ones laid. They set the course for the building. The cornerstone was the basis for aligning all the walls of a building. It was the the strongest and often the biggest stone of the building. The cornerstone was the basis of the building. If you got the cornerstone right, you got he building right. Everyone builds their life a cornerstone. What is yours? Is it Jesus?

1 Peter – Joy is maintain by being different (1 Peter 1:13-2:3)

Followers of Christ can have inexpressible joy because of the new life we have in Christ. Life’s trials can make it hard to maintain that joy. Peter tells us that to keep the joy we need to think differently, act differently, and feel differently from the world we live in. It is hard, but possible because of the new birth we have.

1 Peter – Inexpressible joy when things are incredibly hard (1 Peter 1:3-9)

Peter is writing to followers of Christ who are experiencing tough times. He explains to them that even in the middle of trials, they can have inexpressible joy. This is because they have a new spiritual life that gives a living hope, a wonderful inheritance, and guaranteed protection. They have salvation now and forever so they should rejoice.
