Our Church's Mission
This is what “generous giving” really means : “John 3:16 ” For God So Loved … that He GAVE His Only begotten Son…” As the saying goes you cannot love with giving. 11You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion, and your giving through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12For this ministry of service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanksgiving to God.… (2 Cor. 9:11-12) Romans 12:8 if it is encouraging, let…
Our mission is to build relationships with people from all walks of life that lead us to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. Our mission statement is another way to talk about the Great Commission. We need effort and a plan to make this happen. Strategy helps us to accomplish our mission. Many churches have a strategy to survive, but Jesus wants us to do more than just survive. Then, we need measures to evaluate if our strategy is working. Our church’s strategy and measures are outlined in this message.
Our fifth value is Active Faith. Paul says “not works without faith”. James says “not faith without works”. Biblical faith is a faith that works, an active faith.
Our fourth value is Authentic Living from 1 John 1:5-2:2. Being authentic means our actions and words match our values and beliefs. Being authentic as a person means that you just let out whatever is inside of you and don’t let the “shoulds” of life control you.
Our third value is “Meaningful Relationships”. Christianity is a relational religion and should be done with other people. However, despite this longing, people still feel lonely. John 13:34 states “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
Unconditional acceptance is our second value, which will be reviewed in this message. What is our disposition as a church toward other people? We aren’t a church that goes around condemning people. But on the other hand, we don’t want to convey that we approve of everything. We see acceptance as being a state between condemnation and approval. Everyone is valued, accepted, and has worth at our church.
Our first value is “Truth with love”. Ephesians 4:15 states “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
It’s the start of a new year. Although we make resolutions, we must remember that Jesus loves and cares for us not because we keep our resolutions, but because he is a loving God. Even though last year did not have a good start, the year 2014 as a whole was excellent for our church. People have matured. 10 people were baptized. Our finances are in good shape. God will bless us more in 2015. No matter what happened before,…
