Dear CCC Family,
I wasn’t with you last Sunday, but I love this picture. So many smiling faces. Maybe we should meet in the cafeteria every Sunday. Not really, though I do appreciate those who worked hard to make things go as smoothly as possible last week and everyone’s cooperation and positive attitude. We will be back in the auditorium this Sunday.
December will be a busy month. Please read below about all that will be happening. Any Sunday is a good Sunday to bring a guest. The Open House Sunday, Christmas Luncheon Sunday, and Candles and Carols Service are especially good to bring a guest to.
There will be a one day Join the Team! Membership Class this Saturday. Even if you didn’t say you were coming, you are still welcome to attend. The time and address is below.
PS A little something extra for Thanksgiving will be announced this Sunday. You will want to be there to hear about.
One Day Membership Class – This Saturday
All four sessions of the Join the Team! Membership Class will be presented on one day on Saturday, November 16, starting at 9:30 am and ending at 12:30 pm. It will be held at our building at 210 East 117th Street. You are welcome to attend whether you signed up or not.
Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Due This Sunday!
Be sure to bring your packed Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this Sunday, so we can transport then to the drop off location for you. Last year we gave 75 shoeboxes. Let’s beat that this year!
Christmas Open House Sunday – December 8
On Sunday, December 8, we are inviting the community to worship with us at 11:00 am at PS 96 and then stop by our building at 210 East 117th Street for an Open House. We are mailing an invitation postcard to homes in our community. Your additional gifts to cover the cost of the mailing would be appreciated. Indicate it is for the mailing.
Christmas Luncheon – December 15
CCC’s Christmas Potluck Luncheon, a favorite annual event, will be held on Sunday, December 15th after the morning service. All are invited to attend! Come with your favorite dish to share. Since we might not have access to ovens, all hot foods must be already cooked and brought to fit in warming trays. Starting next Sunday, half pans will be available to take for hot foods and there will be a sign up sheet to let us know what you will bring. Help will be needed with set-up and cleanup, please see Jackie Coss if you will be available to do that.
Angel Tree Project
We are participating in Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree Project that provides Christmas gifts to children with a parent in prison. If you would like to help, circle the “A” on your completed Communication Card on Sunday, email email@example.com, or speak with Elba Rodriguez. The presents will be given to the children at a Christmas Party for them on the afternoon of Saturday, December 14, at our building at 210 East 117th Street.
Adult Bible Fellowships
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide Bible instruction, discussion, friendship, and prayer.
Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life. Does your life feel like it’s out of control? Perhaps you feel you have to say yes to everyone’s requests, especially if you are a Christian. Maybe you find yourself readily taking responsibility for others’ feelings and problems. Or perhaps you focus so much on being loving and unselfish that you’ve forgotten your own limits and limitations. Or maybe it’s all of the above. This study will help you learn when to say yes and know how to say no in order to take control of your life and set healthy, biblical boundaries with your spouse, children, friends, parents, co-workers, and even yourself. Led by Russell Kraft.
Life Lessons from the Book of Esther … studies on the providence of God, His perfect way, His perfect timing ‘for such a time as this.’ Led by Norma Lozada. (
Core Christianity: Finding Yourself In God’s Story. If you are a Christian, you likely pray, go to church, and read your Bible on a regular basis. Still, with all the busyness of life, you may not be exactly sure how your faith fits into everything you are doing each day. This study delves into the core truths of the Christian faith to equip you to more fully experience the joy God has for you in Jesus Christ and encourage you to have the confidence to share your faith with others. Led by Jon Dyke.
