Dear CCC Family,
It was good to have people back from the holidays last Sunday. In the message John gave us several good reasons why you can trust the Bible and, therefore, build your life off of it. That was the first of three messages getting us ready for the 40 Days in the Word Campaign. This Sunday’s message will be “The Truth or a Truth?” It is hard to be All In if it is just a truth. However, when it is The Truth we have no choice, but to be All In and fully devoted to it.
We are having a Super Bow Party! It has been several years since we have been able to do this. Now, our building at 210 East 117th Street allows us to do so this year. Join us and bring a friend!
See you Sunday!
PS Check out the groups list below that will be offered to help you get more out of the 40 Days in the Word Campaign.
40 Days in the Word Campaign and Groups
February 2 will be the official start of the 40 Days in the Word Campaign. The goal is to reignite and strengthen our passion for God’s Word. We will learn principles and skills so we are not just “hearers” of the Word, but also “doers” of the Word! After that Sunday, February 2, an Adult Bible Fellowship and small groups will be using material that supports and further develops that goal. Below is a list of the groups that will be available to attend with the leader’s email for more information. You can also call the church office for information, 212 875-8621.
- Sunday, 12:30 pm, at PS 96 led by John Dyke, email@example.com.
- Monday, 7:30 pm, at 210 East 117th Street, fourth floor apartment, led by John Price, firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Tuesday, 7:30 pm, at 1787 Madison Avenue, led by Jeff Butler, email@example.com.
- Wednesday, 7:00 pm, at 171 W. 107th Street, led by Laury Dyke, firstname.lastname@example.org

Super Bowl Party
Whether you are a die hard football fanatic or just a fan of connecting with your friends, we invite you to come join our CCC Super Bowl Party, Sunday, February 2, starting at 6:00 pm. The party will go until the game is over, but feel free to come and go as you like. We will project the game on a BIG screen. Those that aren’t into the game are welcome to bring and play board games or just hang out and talk. We will show a Christian themed video for part or all of the half time show. It will probably be players sharing their testimony. There will be beverages and snack provided, but you are encouraged to bring some to share as well. We will probably chip in together and order pizza at some point. This would be a great event to bring a friend too!
Charitable contribution statements will be available this Sunday, January 19, and will be mailed to those who do not pick them up. If you do not receive one and want one, contact the church office.
Annual Congregational Meeting
Our annual congregational meeting is on Sunday, February 2, at 12:45 pm. We will affirm elders and trustees, review last year, and discuss future plans.
Adult Bible Fellowships Resume
Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide Bible instruction, discussion, friendship, and prayer.
Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life. Does your life feel like it’s out of control? Perhaps you feel you have to say yes to everyone’s requests, especially if you are a Christian. Maybe you find yourself readily taking responsibility for others’ feelings and problems. Or perhaps you focus so much on being loving and unselfish that you’ve forgotten your own limits and limitations. Or maybe it’s all of the above. This study will help you learn when to say yes and know how to say no in order to take control of your life and set healthy, biblical boundaries with your spouse, children, friends, parents, co-workers, and even yourself. Led by Russell Kraft.
Core Christianity: Finding Yourself In God’s Story. If you are a Christian, you likely pray, go to church, and read your Bible on a regular basis. Still, with all the busyness of life, you may not be exactly sure how your faith fits into everything you are doing each day. This study delves into the core truths of the Christian faith to equip you to more fully experience the joy God has for you in Jesus Christ and encourage you to have the confidence to share your faith with others. Led by Jon Dyke.
Snow and Winter Weather
Our congregation is spread out throughout the NY metro area, from Long Island to New Jersey and Westchester to Staten Island. Thus, severe winter weather hits us hard especially since the people who lead and set up travel a distance. If the National Weather Service issues winter storm warnings that include statements that travel will be hazardous, please call the church office or check the church website to make sure we are still holding services.
