The Vine Project. Change of Dates. New Class Starting.

Dear CCC Family,

The Vine Project – At Community Christian Church we strive to be a a church that makes disciples of Jesus, people who are learning Christ. That is not easy. Learning Christ means we change our convictions and behavior to what Jesus wants from what we want. By nature, we resist that changed and we would rather go to church to be told that we are perfect the way we are, to be made to feel good without changing and being becoming more like Christ. Being a disciple making church is hard so churches often adopt lesser goals like just getting more people to attend or keeping people happy whether they grow in Christ or not. That is often done without realizing it.

At CCC we are constantly looking for resources that will help us be a disciple making church rather settling for something less. The book, “The Vine Project,” is one such resources. It is not just a book, but a comprehensive guide to the why and how of shaping your church’s ministry culture around disciple making. It is not so much a program as it is a way of looking at your church and understanding what needs to be done to become an effective disciple making place.

To familiarize our church with the concepts of The Vine Project, we will be holding a one day workshop on Saturday, June 8, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at La Hermosa Christian Church, 5 West 110th Street in Manhattan. That is the church where Community Christian Church used to meet. It is a DVD based workshop where one of the authors of the book introduces the concepts. Everyone who attends Community Christian Church is welcome to attend the workshop for free. (We are charging people from other churches a small fee.)

If you plan to attend, let us know by Sunday, June 2, so we can order enough food for lunch, snacks, and workshop booklets. To register, circle the “V” at the bottom of your completed Communication Card or email office@cccnyc.org. Be sure to let us know how many will be attending with you.
