Too Much to List – Please Read

Dear CCC Family,

There is a lot going on this summer. Work is starting on the renovation of our building at 210 East 117th Street. An associate minister candidate and his wife are coming for a visit, John and Heather Price. We are wrapping up the transition to the new membership requirements. The French Service is making progress. The Vine Project is starting. It is all good and it keeps me busy.

Please take the time to read more about it all below.

See you Sunday!

Jeff

The Vine Project Update
We had a great turn out for The Vine Project Workshop on June 8. The Vine Project is a long term effort to shift our church culture toward disciple-making. The next step will be to establish a team of people to lead the effort to do that.

210 East 117th Street Renovation Update
Work and cost proposals from contractors have been submitted and accepted, permits have been issued, and the previously given construction loan commitment has been renewed. Interior demolish work is scheduled to start this week. Please pray that all the work is done quickly, well, and safely.

Pancake Breakfast – June 16
We are having a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, June 16, at 10:00 am in recognition of Father’s Day. It is a free event. Invite your friends, family, and coworkers whether they are fathers or not to join you for food and the service. Jon Dyke is in charge of the breakfast so talk to him if you can help.

Father’s Day – June 16
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16. Although there won’t be a Father’s Day message, there will be some elements in the service that honor fathers plus a gift for all men in attendance.

Associate Minister Candidate Visit – June 22-23
John Price, a candidate for our associate minister position, will be visiting CCC the weekend of Sunday, June 23rd. On Saturday, June 22nd, there will be continental breakfast at 9:30 am to meet John and Heather, his wife, and get acquainted. It will be held in the tenant’s lounge of 1831 Madison Avenue, between 119th and 120th street. That is Jon and Lauy Dyke’s building. There will be a similar gathering after the service and refreshments on Sunday, June 23rd. Choose one to attend. If you plan to attend on Saturday, circle the “S” at the bottom of your Communication Card and put it in the offering bag.

John has a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Leadership from Cincinnati Christian University and several years of experience as a youth minister and teaching pastor. He has also held key volunteer  leadership roles in a large church. His references, seminary professors and local church leaders, speak very highly of him. John is married to Heather and they have a dog.

Baptisms – July 14
We plan to set up our portable baptistry and have baptisms on Sunday, July 14, after the service. If you are interested in being baptized or have questions about being baptized, circle the “B” at the bottom of your completed Communication Card and put it in the offering bag or give it to a greeter.
